APRA is an association administering the rights of the world's composers, songwriters and publishers in Australia and New Zealand.

APRA is non-profit making. Its twin aims are simple: to ensure that licences for the exercise of performing rights in music are as accessible and reasonable as possible - with the result that legal compliance with the copyright law is as widespread as it can reasonably be - and to ensure that writers and publishers are paid the royalties to which they are entitled as quickly and efficiently as possible.

If you're a songwriter it is vital that you are a member of APRA. Each time your song is performed live, played on the radio or television you could be earning money.

ARIA is the industry association representing major and independent record producers, manufacturers and distributors. It acts as an advocate for the Australian Music Industry, enforces anti piracy copyright measures and censorship code, complies industry information and research and provides a 'blanket' no- exclusive licensing function for copyright users. Ausmusic's primary purpose is to provide educational products accredited by appropriate education authorities aimed at secondary school students, community service centres and selected learning institutions throughout Australia. Ausmusic has successfully implemented its music education initiatives largely through conventional teaching techniques across Australia, some of which are now being exported.

In addition, Ausmusic sponsors the Ausmusic Foundation Inc. The Foundation provides promotional opportunities for emerging artists and their support personnel. Graduates from the musicIT program have the opportunity to gain workplace skills, and emerging artists benefit from activities such as the annual promotional campaign, Ausmusic Day on the 3rd Saturday in November and the annual Australian Live Music Awards (ALMAs).

The Music Managers' Forum was formed in 1991 in recognition of the needs of music managers and self-managed artists. They provide a means of sharing and learning from the experiences of other managers and an avenue through which common problems and areas of concern can be discussed. The MMF ultimately seeks to improve the manager's capacity to support the careers of the artists that they represent.

The MMF presents monthly forums in all States around Australia which are open to the public as well as members and which deal with topics including touring, copyright, marketing, negotiating skills, music law, recording and publishing contracts, taxation and business planning and feature local and international guest speakers.
