The Association of Independent Record Labels Ltd (AIR) is a national industry association, pro-actively serving and representing the interests and development of Australian independent recording labels across Australia and the world. AMCOS The Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS) represents virtually all music publishers in Australia and New Zealand and, by way of reciprocal arrangements, the vast majority of the world's composers, writers and music publishers. AMRAP AMRAP is a community radio initiative that works with musicians and community broadcasters to create increased radio airplay opportunities for contemporary Australian Music. AMRAP will distribute your Album, Single or EP to community radio stations Australia wide. APRA APRA is an association administering the rights of the world's composers, songwriters and publishers in Australia and New Zealand. APRA is non-profit making. Its twin aims are simple: to ensure that licences for the exercise of performing rights in music are as accessible and reasonable as possible - with the result that legal compliance with the copyright law is as widespread as it can reasonably be - and to ensure that writers and publishers are paid the royalties to which they are entitled as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you're a songwriter it is vital that you are a member of APRA. Each time your song is performed live, played on the radio or television you could be earning money. Arts Law Centre of Australia Provides legal and accounting advice to people with arts-related problems, coordinates a seminar program and produces publications on pertinent arts/law matters. ARIA - Australian Record Industry Association Email: aria@aria.com.au ARIA is the industry association representing major and independent record producers, manufacturers and distributors. It acts as an advocate for the Australian Music Industry, enforces anti piracy copyright measures and censorship code, complies industry information and research and provides a 'blanket' no- exclusive licensing function for copyright users. ARIA also compiles the weekly ARIAnet music charts and produces the Annual ARIA Music Awards. AusMusic Ausmusic's primary purpose is to provide educational products accredited by appropriate education authorities aimed at secondary school students, community service centres and selected learning institutions throughout Australia. Ausmusic has successfully implemented its music education initiatives largely through conventional teaching techniques across Australia, some of which are now being exported. In addition, Ausmusic sponsors the Ausmusic Foundation Inc. The Foundation provides promotional opportunities for emerging artists and their support personnel. Graduates from the musicIT program have the opportunity to gain workplace skills, and emerging artists benefit from activities such as the annual promotional campaign, Ausmusic Day on the 3rd Saturday in November and the annual Australian Live Music Awards (ALMAs). Austrade The Australian Trade commission (Austrade) is the Federal Government agency that can assist you to take your music business to the international market. They can give you practical advice, overseas market knowledge and ongoing support as you break into the very competitive international music scene. This can include financial support through the export Market Development Scheme (EMDG). AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS ARTS FOUNDATION A Commonwealth-owned company, operating at arm's length from Government; works primarily with business with the aim of bringing benefits to business, arts organisations and the Australian community. Australia Council The Commonwealth Government's arts funding and advisory body. Grants to individual artists and organisations are offered through a range of art form and community cultural development funds. Australian Copyright Council Provides legal advice on copyright and related areas of law and is involved with law reform and policy relating to copyright. Australian Music Centre Provides information and advice on Australian composers and Australian music. Has an extensive resource centre, which includes scores, and a retail shop. Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts Manages various grants and tax incentives. Provides policy advice and program support to the Australian Government. Festivals Australia Administers a funding program to provide assistance to regional cultural festivals. Gadigal Information Services Aboriginal Corporation Fosters and promotes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and culture. Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) Represents the industrial and professional interests of Australian performers, musicians, theatre and film technicians and journalists. MMF The Music Managers' Forum was formed in 1991 in recognition of the needs of music managers and self-managed artists. They provide a means of sharing and learning from the experiences of other managers and an avenue through which common problems and areas of concern can be discussed. The MMF ultimately seeks to improve the manager's capacity to support the careers of the artists that they represent. The MMF presents monthly forums in all States around Australia which are open to the public as well as members and which deal with topics including touring, copyright, marketing, negotiating skills, music law, recording and publishing contracts, taxation and business planning and feature local and international guest speakers. Musicians Union of Australia (Sydney Branch) Playing Australia This program provides assistance for the touring of the performing arts across State/Territory boundaries. PPCA - Phonographic Performance Company of Australia PPCA licences the broadcast and public performance of protected sound recordings and music video clips. PPCA represents the copyright interests of registered Australian recording artists and record companies via the provision of non-exclusive "one stop" licences PPCA also provides support services to its members and licence holders, via participation and sponsorship in educational, music industry and trade events annually. Regional Arts NSW Peak body for the arts in regional and rural NSW. Grants are provided under the Country Arts Support Program (CASP), the Commonwealth Regional Arts Fund and regional Quick Turnaround for community cultural development across the State.
